Please Pray for the Steven Curtis Chapman Family

Just as I was preparing to log off the computer tonight, I read a news story that absolutely broke my heart. The youngest of three daughters adopted from China by Steven and Mary Beth Chapman, was tragically killed in an accident at their home on Wednesday afternoon. Maria (age 5) is seated with Steven above. According to the initial news report, Maria was hit accidentally by a car being driven by one of her brothers, who didn't see her. I can't begin to grasp the immensity of their pain, particularly that poor brother. Please keep this precious family in your prayers as they bear this unthinkable tragedy. (Steven Curtis Chapman website) (Fox News Report)

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. ~2 Corinthians 1:3-5

This is such a horrific accident. I can't fathom the deep emotional pain they are feeling right now.

My heart broke with this news, too, and especially for the son. And the fact that several in the family saw the tragic accident happen.

When I saw that in the news, I immediately began to pray.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Several people have made comment to the title. Boy am I glad the Lord changed it. I just know the original title "Why are we Surprised?" was not classy enough. It makes me feel proud and humbled at the same time.

This story is just so horrific and tragic. I can't imagine what the teen brother will endure literally for the rest of his life. No matter how many people tell him it was an accident and not his fault, I'm sure even through God's forgiveness that will haunt him all the days of his life.
Lovingly,
Paula

Been soberly pondering it all day! It strikes a chord, doesn't it? How thankful I am this night to have tucked all my kids in (well almost all of them) with kisses and good-nights. My heart is moved to prayer for this precious family.
