Great Food, Special Friends, Happy Hearts

Hope you and yours had a lovely weekend! We had a wonderful time Saturday night at the home of our friends, the Robertsons. They are an absolutely delightful family and we always enjoy time spent with them, so we had very much looked forward to getting together.

For dinner, they had planned pizza on the grill, something completely new to me. The Robertsons (and others I've since spoken to) have been doing it for some time. I love pizza in almost any form, so I couldn't wait to try it!

When we arrived, Tracy was busy preparing the dough...

A few moments later, after a light toasting on the grill, they were ready for toppings...

There were a huge array of toppings, including many veggies and herbs fresh from their garden. Here is Anna, showing us how it's done...

A layer of cheese and then they went back on the grill under Dale's skillful hand. (Too bad this isn't "smell-o-vision." The aroma was heavenly.)

Voila! The finished product!

Some were not only a feast for the tummy, but for the eyes, as well. Look at the beautiful array of toppings on this one...DELICIOUS!

I absolutely loved the pizza made this way and would love to try it on my own. It was great fun to do this with a group of people. = )

A little later, it was was time for dessert. Oh.my.goodness! True to form, they had not one, but three desserts...everyone of which was exceptional. First, my all-time favorite, pumpkin roll made by Tracy (be still my heart!)

Then, an amazing berry trifle, made by Brittany...

And lastly, some of the best chocolate cake I've ever had, made by Rachel.

The rest of the evening was spent on their beautiful back porch. Unseasonably cool temps and the glow of candlelight provided the perfect atmosphere for sharing stories and lots of laughter with these special friends. A wonderful evening, indeed. = )

Oh my. They are the entertainers of the year! Wow. I'm just pleased if my frozen pizza and out of the box brownies turn out okay. :)
Glad you had a wonderful night of fellowship.

What a lovely evening (three desserts - my goodness!) I have never even heard of pizza on the grill - but doesn't that look like fun? Can you believe our grill just died and Hubbie is thinking about not replacing it - we hardly ever use it. What timing?!?!

That looks and sounds FABULOUS! I'd have never thought to do pizza on the grill...but it would certainly be nice to have pizza in weather too hot to bake it in the house, lol.

I imagine that it could have been a meal of oatmeal and still been every bit as memorable due to the gracious hospitality.

Thanks for sharing! I may just try these out this week!

I have never had grilled pizza either, but it looks delicious. What a fun and creative way to serve a meal to your guests. I'll have to give it a try. The desserts look wonderful too.

So much for the diet...

The candles are the crowing touch for me. I wish I'd been there to join in your time of food and fellowship. How precious to have friend create such an atmosphere of worship in their homes. Truly servanthood personified. The heart of God lives through these lavish acts of giving.

I'm grateful for those who take the time to share their hearts and homes in this way.

blessings and peace to you this week~elaine

What a great idea! Never heard of a pizza party. I like how they included their children in making the desserts. And the description of the cool summer evening with candlelight created the perfect backdrop for visiting with dear friends. We certainly treasure those times don't we?
